    Celebrating the Closing of the Student Workshop: A Neighborhood Transformation

    On October 6, we celebrated a real community event as the student workshop wrapped up. The students successfully completed their tactical urbanism projects, and the open space near Building №2, once used for chaotic parking, underwent a remarkable transformation.

    From September 27 to October 6, the Living Lab is hosting an international student workshop. Students from Ilia State University, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, and the Odessa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture are collaborating to transform the open space in VI Block of Vazha-Pshavela near Building #98/2.

    International Student Workshop

    From September 27 to October 6, Living Lab will host an exciting international student workshop. During this event, students from Ilia State University (Georgia), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), and Odessa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture (Ukraine) will collaborate to reimagine the open space adjacent to building #2 on Vazha-Pshavela Avenue.

    European Mobility Week

    On September 21, the Living Lab team took part in European Mobility Week, an annual event organized by Tbilisi City Hall. This campaign is designed to raise awareness about sustainable urban mobility through various activities.

    Observation and Survey Results

    On September 7, the Living Lab office hosted a presentation of the findings from the observation and survey conducted around the area adjacent to Vaja-Pshavela Building #2. The results are now available online. You can explore the research documents through the links below and share your feedback with us.

    In August, the Living Lab office will operate on a limited schedule. Our space will be open to visitors on August 7, 14, and 21 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In September, we will return with renewed energy and new events. In the meantime, you can visit our website, follow our Instagram page, and email us.

    Exploring Green Space Transformation

    In late July, the Live Lab team conducted a study of the area around Building #2 in Vazha-Pshavela’s 6th Block to explore its potential transformation into a green space. With the help of volunteer students, we observed the parking arrangements and engaged with local residents through interviews and discussions.

    On July 27, at 12:00, the Living Lab office was waiting for dear guests. We had to host the neighborhood kids! We were already stocked with colored pencils, markers, pastels, and paper to create interesting works

    On July 26, an exhibition showcasing the works of architecture students took place at Ilia State University. Our team also had a dedicated space at the event. We presented the Living Lab project to the visitors and discussed the strengths and challenges of the 6th Block of Vazha-Pshavela with them.

    Vake Beyond Facades: An Exhibition of Student Works

    On June 17th, the Living Laboratory hosted an exhibition titled 'Vake Beyond the Facades' featuring works by Ilia State University's Architecture Program students.

    On June 28th a Round Table took place at our lab space. With residents and professionals, we discussed qualities and deficits of the Vazha-Pshavela neighborhood.

    The walk around the neighborhood turned out to be interesting!

    On June 22, together with environmental specialist Arsen Bakhia, we explored the green and open spaces of the Vazha-Pshavela Block #6. The tour started at our office, where members of the neighborhood, municipal representatives, architects, urban planners, and environmental specialists gathered.

    WE ARE OPEN!

    The Living Lab has opened to the public! The opening event, that took place at May, 25h started at school No 35 with a short presentation of the goals, methods and programme of the project. After a walk around the neighborhood we continued the discussion at our field office. Thanks a lot, to the residents of Block VI who joined the meeting and to Irakli Tsereteli, Department of Environment and Green Spaces, Nino Natelashvili, Vake Unit district representative, Anke Derichs and Elena Dajarnaja, GIZ and Beka Kakabadze from City Hall!
